3 drug suspects separately shot dead when they engaged cops in shootout
Three more drug suspects died at the hands of the Manila police after they allegedly resisted arrests during separate drug stings, having a total of seven deaths in a span of five days.
The latest slain alleged drug pushers were identified as Arvie Garcia, of legal age; Darwin Nazardo, 44; and Bernie Javier, 25.
According to a report from the Manila Police District, Garcia and Nazardo were included in the police’s drug watchlist.
The three men were separately shot dead after they allegedly engaged operatives in shootouts during buy-bust operations from Saturday afternoon to early Sunday morning.
Police said they recovered guns, sachets of suspected shabu and drug paraphernalia from the suspect.
Around 4 a.m. Wednesday, two drug suspects were also killed in an encounter with the MPD-Station 7 along New Antipolo Street in Tondo.
They were identified as Noel Cervantes and an alias “Athan.”
On Tuesday afternoon, Novie Palatao, 27, jobless, also died during an anti-illegal drug operation along Guevarra Street. He reportedly pulled out a gun, prompting the operatives from MPD-Station 3 to shoot him.
Residents in the area told police that Palatao’s live-in partner was an Oplan Tokhang surrenderer.
Earier that day, Anthony Roque was also killed after he allegedly fired at the lawmen who hatched a buy-bust operation against him in Tondo.
Roque was reportedly included in the police drug watchlist, PD director Chief Supt. Rolando Anduyan said.
Also, Roque was a known pusher in the area who had previous drug cases, Anduyan added. (Kate Javier)
