LUCENA CITY – An alleged drug pusher was killed, while two others were arrested in police buy-bust operations in Lucena City and Sariaya town in Quezon province on Wednesday, police said on Thursday.

Suspected drug pusher Archie Manalo, 35, was slain after he reportedly ran away and shot at the arresting officer with his caliber .38 revolver after he sold “shabu” (crystal meth) in a transaction in Barangay (village) Dalahican around 11:30 a.m. Lucena police chief Supt. Reydante Ariza said in a report. Manalo missed his target then another policeman retaliated and killed him.

Authorities recovered six sachets of shabu weighing 1.81 grams from the suspect.

Later in the day, Lucena anti-illegal drugs operatives collared Modesto Arazo, 46, in another buy-bust operation in Barangay Ibabang Dupay around 4:30 p.m.

The suspect yielded three sachets of shabu weighing a total of 51 grams worth about P346,800. The suspect was released from prison here in September on illegal drugs charges.

In nearby Sariaya town, a local drug enforcement unit busted Romulo Palisoc, 22, in an operation in Barangay Sampaloc 2 around 9:50 p.m., Sariaya police chief Supt. Julio Go said in a separate report. Police recovered one gram of shabu from the suspected drug pusher./lb
