CITY OF SAN JOSE DEL MONTE, Bulacan — Police killed an armed drug dealer who tried to elude arrest and engaged lawmen in a firefight during a buy bust operation in Barangay San Martin here Wednesday.
In a report to Bulacan police director Senior Supt. Romeo Caramat Jr., San Jose del Monte City police chief Supt Fitz Macariola on Thursday also said that a drug pushing couple were nabbed in Barangay Gumaok Central, while seven other persons were nabbed while having a “shabu” session in Barangay Citrus.
Macariola identified the slain drug dealer as Jomar Luban of Barangay Bagong Buhay in this city.
He said the suspect was included in the Barangay Anti-Drug Council (BADAC) watch list of drug pushers in the said area.
Macariola said the suspect sold a plastic sachet of shabu worth PHP500 to a police undercover agent.
“But when the lawmen was about to arrest him, Luban ran and escaped, then drew a handgun, firing at the pursuing operatives who were prompted to fire back that resulted to the death of the suspect,” he said.
A Scene of the Crime Operatives (SOCO) team from the Bulacan PNP Crime Laboratory recovered from the suspect a 9mm pistol still loaded with three live bullets, a red pouch containing nine plastic sachets of suspected shabu, and eight pieces of fired catridge of 9mm bullets.
Police anti-narcotics operatives, on the other hand, arrested the husband and wife tandem of Fernando and Maria Bringula after selling a sachet of shabu worth PHP500 to a police undercover agent.
The duo did not resist arrest. However, when frisked, the couple yielded 11 more plastic sachets of shabu.
Macariola also reported that seven persons were caught sniffing shabu in a suspected dope den in Barangay Citrus after a concerned citizen tipped-off the police.
Appropriate charges for violations of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act will be filed against the arrested suspects.
