TAGBILARAN CITY, Bohol — A drug pusher was shot and killed while two alleged drug users including a private school teacher were arrested in a buy-bust operation in this city on Sunday afternoon.

John Gerald “Kano” Baquero Anson, 21, a resident of Barangay Magsija in Balilihan town, Bohol, died of a gunshot wound in the chest following a shootout, said Supt. Patricio Degay, Tagbilaran police chief.

Degay said the operation stemmed from a tip that Anson was both drug user and peddler.

An undercover policeman bought P500 worth of shabu from Anson about 4 p.m. on Sunday along Ligason Street, Purok 7, Barangay Bool.

But the suspect realized that it was a sting operation and pulled out his gun to shoot the undercover policeman.

But the gun malfunctioned.

He then ran toward the rented house of Silverio Baguinon Gingo, 23, where a shootout ensued.

Anson was hit in the chest and was killed on the spot.

Police also arrested Roderick Dano Daro, a private school teacher in Tagbilaran City, who went to the rented house of Gingo to buy shabu.

Daro and Gingo were allegedly buying illegal drugs from Anson prior to the operation and were caught in possession of four pieces each of sachets containing suspected shabu.

The Scene of the Crime Operatives (SOCO) recovered from Anson a .38 caliber revolver which was loaded with three bullets.

Authorities also reportedly found four plastic sachets of crystal meth or shabu which weighed 20 grams with an estimated street value of P300,000.

Gingo and Daro were detained at Tagbilaran police jail pending the filing of charges. /je
