CAMP GEN. PANTALEON GARCIA, IMUS, Cavite – A teenage drug suspect was killed in a shootout with the police in Barangay 48-A Cavite City on Thursday, the Police Provincial Office (PPO) reported Saturday.
Superintendent Francisco Jarcia Luceña III, Cavite City police officer-in-charge (OIC) identified the fatality as Jhon Dhey Sosing Remedios, 19, a resident of Barangay 48-G.
Remedios was rushed to hospital but succumbed to several gunshot wounds.
A police report said that at around 8:40p.m., Remedios fired at undercover operatives during a buy-bust operation, which prompted the members of the Drug Enforcement Unit, led by Inspector Gilbert H. Derla to return fee.
Recovered from the fatality were a loaded .38 caliber revolver, two sachets of shabu and cash.
The PPO DEU Monitoring Center reported that Remedios was the latest drug encounter fatality in the turf.
The Cavite police said that after last Thursday’s incident, 80 drug suspects have so far been killed in police operations this year.
A total of 4,552 drug pushers and users have likewise been arrested so far this year.
