MANILA, Philippines — A suspected drug pusher was killed in what police said was a shootout in Valenzuela City on Tuesday.
Erik Quimbo died after he allegedly engaged anti-narcotics operatives in a firefight at his house in Barangay Ugong at around 3:30 a.m., city police chief Senior Superintendent Ronaldo Mendoza said.
Quimbo was pronounced dead on arrival at the Valenzuela General Hospital from gunshots to the body.
Police said they recovered a .38-caliber handgun from Quimbo.
Three other drug suspects were arrested during the operation.
In Manila, six persons were collared in separate drug stings.
They were Joey dela Peña, Vincent Yao, Kevin Barnachoa, Harvey Bago, Enrico Liang and Joseph Ventura.
Police said they confiscated shabu, dried marijuana leaves and drug paraphernalia from the suspects.
Another drug suspect, Herminio Ramos, 38, was collared in Barangay Fortune in Marikina.
The suspects are being held by police on charges of violating Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act. – Emmanuel Tupas
