A man who authorities believe worked as a hired killer for self-confessed drug lord Franz Sabalones was shot dead by unidentified assailants in Barangay Vito, Minglanilla town, Cebu on Saturday afternoon.
Armando Orellano, a habal-habal driver, was dropping off a passenger when a gunman on board a motorcycle pulled out a pistol and shot him several times before fleeing.
Orellano sustained gunshot wounds to his head and body, which killed him.
PO3 Junyl Ater, desk officer of Minglanilla Police Station, said Orellano worked as a hit man for Sabalones.
Authorities said they are not discounting his alleged involvement in illegal drugs as a motive for the killing.
Six empty shells of a caliber-.45 pistol were recovered at the crime scene.
