A former Marine who was allegedly involved in gun running activities and two suspected drug pushers were killed in separate “shootouts” with the Makati City police on Tuesday.
Alexander Millado died of multiple gunshot wounds after he allegedly fired at policemen who were about to serve him with a search warrant.
The 45-year-old Millado, a former member of the Philippine Marines, was killed inside his house on Mangga Street, Cembo around 11:30 p.m. Tuesday.
“We wanted to peacefully serve the warrant but he fought back, leaving the operatives no choice,” said Senior Supt. Rogelio Simon, Makati police chief.
Simon said Millado was involved in gunrunning, noting that intelligence operatives were able to buy several firearms from him, which they cited as basis in securing a search warrant from Judge Elmo Almeda of the Makati Regional Trial Court Branch 150.
Authorities recovered .357- and .38-caliber revolvers and several rounds of ammunition inside Millado’s house, in addition to a sachet of suspected “shabu” (crystal meth).
Also on Tuesday, two men who remained unidentified at press time were killed after they fired at Makati policemen conducting anticrime operations at Laperal Compound, Guadalupe Viejo.
Recovered from the slain men were a sling bag with seven sachets of shabu, 15 grams of dried marijuana leaves, a digital weighing scale, drug paraphernalia, a 9mm pistol, a .22-caliber Magnum revolver, cartridges and an M26 fragmentation grenade, Simon said.
