AN ALLEGED drug pusher, who voluntarily surrendered on Tuesday, was reportedly killed in a shootout with police officer in Barangay Dacudao, Calinan District on Sunday night.Chief Insp. Michael Uyanguren, commander of Calinan Police precinct, identified the suspect as Tam-Tam Muscan, a local resident.

Muscan’s exact age was not released but he was said to be of legal age.

Uyanguren said barangay officials of Dacudao assisted Muscan for his voluntary surrender at the station at around 9 a.m. last April 24, Tuesday.

According to the Calinan police report, Muscan admitted using and selling drugs. Muscan reportedly vowed to stop his illegal operation.

As operational procedure, the police conducted surveillance operations to make sure that Muscan was sincere.

However, police operatives validated that the suspect continued selling drugs.

Uyanguren said they coordinated with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) before conducting the buy-bust operation.

An undercover police officer was able to contact Muscan and they agreed to meet on Sunday for the drug transaction.

At around 8 p.m. that day, the police officer paid a P500 marked money for a sachet of shabu.

Upon close observation of the poseur buyer, the sachet was heat-sealed and contained white crystalline granules believed to be shabu.

He introduced himself as a police officer and was about to arrest the suspect.

The undercover agent said the suspect pushed him forcibly and pulled a gun of unknown caliber from his waist.

The suspect, the operative said, fired the weapon.

But he managed to avoid the bullet as he was able to roll over the ground.

The police officer, allegedly sensing his life was in imminent danger, returned fire, hitting the victim.

Police asked assistance from the Central 911.

However, due to the delay of the medical response, the police were forced to bring the suspect to Isaac Robillo General Hospital, Calinan on board Mobile Patrol No. 97.

The suspect was declared dead on arrival by the attending physician, Dr. Rizza Mae Apostol.

The Scene of the Crime Operative (SOCO) team, led by Chief Insp. Nolan Genova, recovered a revolver pistol, without serial number, containing two live ammunitions inside its cylinder and one fired cartridge. A phone, allegedly used by the suspect in the operation, was also recovered.

The team also went to Angel Funeral Homes in Calinan to conduct ocular inspection of the suspect’s body. There, they recovered the P500 marked money and four other elongated sachets of shabu.

The body of the suspect now lies at the Calinan branch of Angel Funeral Homes for the required autopsy and paraffin examinations.
