Two alleged notorious drug peddlers were killed in a shootout with policemen during a buy-bust operation in Quezon City, Tuesday.

Members of the Drug Enforcement Unit of Quezon City Police District-Batasan Police Station (PS-6) identified the fatalities as Robert Rivera, known as “Bulak,” and Randy Matias, alias “Buboy.”

According to the police, they received information that the two suspects were known drug peddlers and were heavily armed personalities in their area.

Operatives of PS-6 SDEU conducted a drug sting against the duo at about 2:15 a.m. along Sto. Niño Street in Barangay Holy Spirit, Quezon City.

However, upon sensing that they were transacting with a poseur buyer, the suspects pulled out their handguns and fired at the policemen.

Back-up officers retaliated resulting in a brief shootout which led to the death of the suspects due to multiple gunshot wounds on their bodies.

Authorities seized 10 sachets of shabu weighing more or less 2 grams with estimated street value of P100,000, some drug paraphernalia, and two loaded caliber 38 revolvers.
