General Santos City – Three suspected members of Ansar Khilafah Philippines (AKP), which has ties with the Islamic State (IS), were killed Friday in a shootout with security forces who stormed their lair in Polomolok, South Cotabato.

Chief Insp. Alex Orcajada, Polomolok police chief, identified the slain suspects as Allan Ewa, Modja Adam, and Saddam Macabangin who were killed after they shot it out with policemen and soldiers who were about to serve a search warrant on them in Barangay Koronadal Proper, Polomolok early dawn Friday.

Police tagged the suspects in the series of criminal activities in Polomolok town, including gun-for-hire, illegal drugs, and gun-running.

Orcajada said the suspects are said to be members of IS-inspired AKP, a local terror group whose leader Mohammad Jaafar Maguid was killed in an encounter with security forces in Kiamba, Sarangani recently.

He said the suspects were involved in the series of killings in Polomolok town the past month.
