AGENTS of the Bulacan Police Provincial Office on Tuesday and yesterday shot dead two armed drug dealers in a gunfight in Malolos City and arrested eight others in separate anti-narcotics operations in the province, local police director Senior Supt. Romeo M. Caramat Jr. said.
In a report to Police Regional Office 3 director Chief Supt. Amador V. Corpus, the official
identified the slain suspects as Andrew Santiago, alias ‘Pito,’ a notorious drug trafficker from Bgy. Caingin, and Lynard Crisostomo, a newly-identified drug personality from Umboy St., Bgy. San Gabriel, both in Malolos City.
The two resisted arrest by undercover officers of the Malolos City Police Station Drug
Enforcement Unit under Supt. Heryl Bruno in Malangam St., Bgy. Bulihan at 3:40 a.m. yesterday and were
killed in the process, Caramat said.
Santiago turned out to be a drug offender who surrendered during the previous implementation of the PNP Oplan: Tokhang in the province.
Caramat said Santiago had just handed a packet of shabu to a poseur when he sensed the sting and immediately drew a concealed firearm and fired shots at the officer. Other policemen posted in the area shot the suspect to death.
On the other hand, Crisostomo was gunned down when he attempted to lob a fragmentation grenade at the lawmen, he added.
Recovered at the scene were eight heat-sealed plastic sachets of suspected shabu, four plastic packets containing dried marijuana leaves, one improvised caliber .22 pistol with four live ammunition, a hand grenade, a marked P500 bill, two mobile phones, assorted drug paraphernalia and a tricycle without plate number.
Caramat also announced the arrest of eight other drug personalities in the province, two of them
minors, during separate buy-bust operations on Tuesday. The names of the minors, one of them a 14-year
old out-of-school youth from Northville, Bgy. Bayugo, Meycauayan City and his 15-year-old neighbor, were
withheld due to their age.
The other suspects were identified as Manilyn Labong, 24, also of Bgy. Bayugo; Lauro Martiniano,
28, of Etranio St., Bgy. Bancal, Meycauayan City; Ryan de la Cruz, 30, of Bgy. Sto. Tomas, Aliaga, Nueva
Ecija; Wilson Samar, 26, of Bgy. Sta. Rita Matanda, San Miguel; Noriel Mainar, 32, of Looban,
Bayanbayanan, Bgy. Prenza, Marilao; and Ronald Gregorio, 23, of Bgy. Pulo, San Rafael municipality.
Recovered from the suspects were 24 sachets of shabu and marked money they received from
undercover officers. All suspects are now facing charges for selling of drugs under RA 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
