Police said Jose Beltran, 38, a tricycle driver, of Consuelo Street, Barangay Acacia, Malabon City, succumbed to gunshot wounds on his back.

Initial investigation showed that Beltran was repairing his tricycle along Maria Clara Street when the gunmen onboard two motorcycles shot him twice around 3:15 p.m.

Witnesses told investigators that the gunmen then sped off.

Beltran’s brother said that he heard gunshots so immediately went to the area where he saw the bloodied body of his brother.

Beltran was rushed to Pagamutang Bayan ng Malabon where he was declared dead on arrival.

Police seized from the crime scene two fired cartridge cases of caliber .45 pistol.

Investigators said that Beltran was on the barangay watchlist and had surrendered to the police last year.

Police are now checking if there was a closed-circuit television (CCTV) near the area to identify the gunmen.
