MANILA, Philippines — At least six alleged drug personalities were killed in anti-drug operations in Iloilo, Antique, Laguna, Rizal and Bulacan in the past two days.
Gabriel Poblacion allegedly shot it out with personnel of the Western Visayas Regional Drug Enforcement Unit in Barangay Tacas, Jaro, Iloilo City.
Police said Poblacion was previously detained for robbery with murder in connection with the killing of a police officer.
Senior Inspector Kennith Bermejo said the fatality was a member of a robbery gang.
Jennifer, 32, and his cousin, Gayrell, 38, both surnamed Gobatanga, residents of Barangay Ticud, La Paz, Iloilo City, reportedly fired at police officers who posed as buyers of shabu in a sting in Barangay San Pedro, San Jose, Antique.
Grenades and sachets of shabu were among those reportedly recovered from the fatalities.
In Bulacan, Joey Castillon was shot dead when he fired at police officers in a drug bust in Meycauayan City.
An alias Egay and a certain Jun Capalad were killed in alleged shootouts with undercover agents who posed as buyers of shabu in Barangay Sta. Ana, Taytay, Rizal and Barangay 7-E, San Pablo, Laguna, respectively.
Egay yielded grams of shabu with an estimated street value of P365,000 and a 9mm pistol, police said.
