A suspected drug pusher was killed by operatives of Drug Enforcement Unit (DEU) of the Calauan police during a buy-bust operation in Bgy. Dayap, Calauan, Laguna, yesterday morning.
The armed confrontation with operativee led by PO2 Deo Mark Mitra resulted in the death of Jerby Malaki.
Initial investigation revealed that the buy-bust operation conducted by DEU operatives led by PO2 Deo Mark Mitra transpired at 2:30 a.m. where one of the policemen acted as poseur-buyer.
Malaki, however, noticed that he was transacting with a police decoy and ran towards his motorcycle after firing his gun at the officer.
While driving, the suspect also fired at the blocking policemen, who returned fire, killing the suspect.
Recovered at the crime scene were a black belt bag, a Sym motorcycle (8614-QC), six fired cartridges, a cal. .38, the sachet of shabu bought from the suspect with the street value of P500.
Meanwhile, reports from Camp Brig. Gen. Paciano Rizal in Sta. Cruz, Laguna, said two of seven persons nabbed for anti-drug operations in the province yielded 10 sachets each of shabu last Monday.
Police said a certain Catherine Samson, 32, of Blk. 23, Lot 14, Phase 2, Southville 5A, Biñan City, was arrested while her live-in partner, Vemor Padida, alias ‘Lester’, escaped during a buy-bust operation at 6 p.m.
Police said the suspect sold a sachet of shabu to a police poseur-buyer but Padida sensed the presence of plainclothes policemen and hurriedly left the place.
Ten sachets of shabu weighting five grams were recovered from Samson.
In Sta. Rosa City, Joel Cerilla Astrolabio, alias ‘Ba-yag’, 26, of Bgy. Canlalay, Biñan City, and Marie Ann Candelaria Padida, alias ‘Mean’, 27, were arrested for selling shabu at 7 p.m. Ten more sachets of shabu were recovered from the duo.
In Pangil town, drug suspects Marlon Bautista Gamayo, 35, of Bgy. Mendiola, Siniloan, and Christian Florito Pilando, 32, of Bgy. Bubucal, Sta. Maria, were arrested for selling shabu at 9 p.m. in Bgy. Natividad.
Recovered from the suspects were two sachets of shabu and their motorcycle.
In Bgy. Sinalhan, Sta. Rosa City, Sayfunnas Jalali Ailani, alias ‘Say’, 26, of Almida Subd., Bgy. Dela Paz, Biñan City, and Abdulwarith Alip Macarampat, 18, were also arrested after selling a medium sachet of shabu worth P1,000 to an undercover agent in JML 3 Subd.
