MANILA, Philippines — A drug suspect was shot dead by police moments after he allegedly killed his fellow drug personality in Quezon City yesterday morning.
Jeffrey Rodriguez was killed in an alleged gunfight with police officers at the Sitio Arboretum in Barangay UP Campus at around 9:15 a.m.
Probers said Rodriguez was seen running away from a shanty where a gunshot was heard by police officers who were preparing to stage a sting to catch him.
Rodriguez died at the scene following the reported shootout. A .45 caliber Springfield pistol was allegedly recovered from his person.
His companion, Bernard Maravilla, was arrested following a brief chase and yielded three sachets of methamphetamine hydrochloride or shabu.
Police officers found the body of Robinry Magtarayo in the shanty where the gunshot was heard.
Three sachets of suspected shabu, an opened sachet containing marijuana leaves and two improvised shotguns were recovered from the shanty.
A .38 caliber revolver and a sachet of shabu were also recovered from Magtarayo’s body.
In Marikina City, Sherilyn Enriquez, 36, and her sister Michelle, 24, were arrested in a sting along Exiguel street in Barangay Sto. Niño on Monday.
Eight sachets of shabu and P100 marked money were confiscated from the sisters.
Paulbert Rodriguez, 20, was arrested in Barangay Malanday, also in Marikina.
Melvin Gutierrez, Arlene Decasin and Mark Anthony Bocar were arrested in separate stings in Pasig City.
Arnel Birol, Charles Solis and Ernanie de Lima were arrested in separate stings in Malabon while Roldan Lakandula, Isidora Soriano and Jessica Mae Cordero were caught in a sting in Caloocan City.
