A suspected illegal drugs peddler who had been convicted for rape and is notorious for other crimes was killed, while 10 others were apprehended as the war on drugs continues in Pampanga province, police said Friday.

The Pampanga Provincial Police, in a statement, identified the slain suspect as Jaylex Manahan, a resident of Barangay Gutad in Floridablanca town, who, aside from being convicted for the crime of rape that led to his imprisonment before for eight years, is also subject of an arrest warrant for robbery and attempted homicide in Bataan province.

Listed as the 4th most notorious drugs personality in Floridablanca, Manahan is also allegedly involved in robbery incidents elsewhere in the province.

Police operatives who acted as poseur buyers of illegal drugs from Manahan shot him dead after he “drew out a revolver pistol” and opened fire.

A cohort identified only as “Alias Omar” who was present at the buy bust operation, however, was able to escape on board a motorcycle, heading towards Dinalupihan, Bataan, the police statement said.

Scene of the crime operatives found from Manahan’s body one plastic sachet containing suspected “shabu,” and one black sling bag containing eight plastic sachet with suspected “shabu,” one cellular phone, a bladed weapon, a P500 bill that was used as marked money for the buy bust operation, and a few more money.

They also recovered from the site a revolver pistol loaded with one ammunition and four fired cartridges cases, and four pieces of fired cartridge cases for caliber .9mm.

Meanwhile, separate buy-bust operations in Floridablanca, San Simon, Minalin, Bacolor, and San Fernando City led to the apprehension of 10 other suspects, one of them was a high value target who had surrendered once.

A total of 32 plastic sachets containing suspected “shabu” were recovered from them, according to police.

Sr. Supt. Nicolas Salvador, acting police chief of Pampanga, reminded “drug surrenderers of the province not to indulge again in any illegal activities as the Pampanga PNP is serious in its campaign against illegal drugs,” the statement said.
