Manila police nab minor suspect in killing barangay watchman in Manila
Elements of Tayuman Police Station nabbed on Monday the 17-year-old, male suspect in the killing of a barangay watchman in Manila.
Senior Insp. Ness Vargas, Tayuman station commander, said they received a telephone call from an informant, telling them about the whereabouts of the suspect late afternoon yesterday.
This led to the immediate dispatch of cops leading to the arrest of the suspect on Kagandahan Street in Tondo, Manila.
Authorities recovered from his possession 17 transparent sachets believed to be “shabu” with an estimated street value of P40,000.
They also found one caliber 45 pistol with four live ammunitions.
With this, the suspect is slapped with raps in violation of Republic Act 9165 or Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act and Republic Act 10591 also known as Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.
But aside from these, there is already a pending murder complaint against him for killing Jose Ramil Ceorres, a barangay tanod, on Juan Luna Street in Tondo on June 28.
He was reportedly hired as gunman by a big-time drug peddler in their area known as Tongtong who is now serving his time behind bars.
The suspect, who is a minor, has been put under the custody of the Department of Social Welfare and Development. (Ria Fernandez)
Police arrest Marikina’s top six most wanted personality
Marikina City Police arrested notorious robbery suspect five years after he was tagged wanted for a robbery case in 2003.
Rey Gonzales, 42, a construction worker and a resident of No. 39 Sheff Street, Barangay Sto. Niño, Marikina City was arrested in Marikina, Monday while he was casually walking along Fifth Street near his residence. Cops approached the suspect an hour after he was sighted going out of his home. This after Marikina City Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 273 Judge Romeo Tagra issued an arrest warrant against Gonzales filed in 2014.
Gonzales, who has been involved in various robbery cases victimizing particularly computer shops, was tagged as Marikina’s top six most wanted personality since his robbery incident in a computer shop owned by Erly Nagor in Marikina City on July 9, 2013.
Before his arrest, cops said the suspect is under surveillance for two weeks.

2 drug suspects arrested by Sampaloc cops In its continuous anti-drug ops
Two drug suspects were arrested in the continuous anti-illegal drug operations in Sampaloc, Manila, Monday afternoon.
Initial investigation showed that the anti-criminality unit of Sampaloc police station responded to telephone call from a concerned citizen on August 6 and launched an operation along Alley 1 near corner Domingo Santiago St., Sampaloc, Manila at around 5:p.m.
The police identified the suspects as Arnel Abdun, male, 42, married, jobless, resident of Pureza Street, Sta. Mesa, Manila and Darwin Lapi, male, 45, married, jobless resident of Mindanao Avenue Extension, Sampaloc Manila.
Recovered from the suspects were two sachets of suspected shabu.
Charges for violating the Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act will be filed against the arrested suspects. (Erma Edera)
Jobless man dies after jumping from scaffolding of abandoned building
A 41-year-old man died after allegedly jumping from a scaffolding of an abandoned establishment near Light Rail Transit (LRT)-1 Blumentritt Station in Sta. Cruz, Manila on Tuesday morning, police said.
Police identified the victim as Rommel Tabuc,, 41, jobless and resident of 2653 Rizal Avenue, Sta. Cruz, Manila.
SPO1 Jonathan Bautista of Manila Police District Homicide Section told the Manila Bulletin that Tabuc was continuously drinking alcohol without eating anything for at least seven days.
“Noong nagising ako ng 3 a.m. sabi niya sa akin na mahal paalam na, magpapakamatay na ako,” (When I woke up at around 3 a.m., he said goodbye, I want to end my life) Angelika dela Cruz, 29, live-in partner of Tabuc said.
However, Dela Cruz thought that the victim was only joking around.
Meanwhile, Zacarias España, Tabuc’s friend said that prior to the incident, Tabuc told him that he should pity his children.
The victim was brought to Ospital ng Tondo but was declared dead on arrival after his head first hit the ground. (Erma Edera)
Retired policemen killed in drug sting in Valenzuela
A retired police officer, who was reportedly included in President Duterte’s narcolist, was killed after he allegedly resisted arrest during a sting in Valenzuela City Monday night.
Sr. Supt. David Poklay, city police chief, identified the slain suspect as retired PO2 Exequiel Sanco, 50, of Caloocan City.
He’s last assignment was at the Valenzuela City Police Community Precinct 4 before he retired in 2015.
A report from the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) disclosed that Sanco was listed in the national’s drug watchlist.
Joint anti-narcotics operatives from PDEA-National Capital Region and Valenzuela City Police Station hatched a buy-bust operation against Sanco along St. Jude Street in Barangay Malinta at around 9:25 p.m.
During the transaction, Sanco reportedly sensed that he was dealing with an undercover agent so he pulled out a gun, prompting the undercover agent to shoot him.
Sanco succumbed to multiple gunshot wounds in the body before reaching Valenzuela City Emergency Hospital.
Recovered from Sanco was a 9mm pistol with ammunition, 22 sachets of suspected shabu and the buy-bust money worth P500.
On Sunday morning, a retired police officer who was also included in President Duterte’s drug watchlist was ambushed near a church in Malate, Manila.
