BATANGAS CITY, Batangas — Three suspected drug peddlers were killed in a series of police operations overnight since Sunday in this province.
Senior Inspector Hazel Luma-ang, Police Provincial Office (PPO) information officer, said the first fatality was Abraham Awat, of Barangay Tugtog, San Jose town, who allegedly shot it out with police at 7:48 p.m. last Sunday.
Awat was reportedly in possession of a .45-caliber pistol and two sachets of “shabu.”
Later at 11 p.m., the Drug Enforcement Unit (DEU) in this city launched an operation against suspect Roderick Fajilan that led to a shootout in Barangay Sta. Clara.
Fajilan, who was allegedly in possession of a .38-cal. revolver and six sachets of shabu, was killed in the gun battle.
Luma-ang also reported the killing of Randy Topacio in a buy-bust operation gone awry in Barangay Lodlod, Lipa City at 12:35 p.m. yesterday.
The Lipa City DEU team ended up trading shots with Topacio who was armed with a .45-cal. pistol and had a sachet of shabu in his possession, said Luma-ang.
