It isn’t sympathy or pity that she wants, says Jennilyn Olayres. It’s not even justice.
I know that I can never have justice for him),” she adds. (Just to clear my husband’s name, that’s already a big thing for me).”
(Not even once did he abuse people. He didn’t make trouble, he didn’t steal, he didn’t do anything wrong).”
People who are quick to judge, who readily believe the words “Drug Pusher” scrawled on a piece of cardboard, can’t know who her husband really was.
“Kailangan ho ba paniwalaan kaagad ang nasa karton, na kahit bata kayang isulat (Must we believe instantly what’s written on the cardboard, that even a kid could write)?” she asks. (They should have looked first into the person’s background. Not only his outward appearance).”
They had been together for three years—“three years and one month noong Lunes,” she says.
She describes someone who is far from the drug-crazed maniac that his killers wanted the world to believe.
“Joker, mapagbiro sa tao, masayahin—ayaw niya ng gulo,” she says.
Sometimes he would take a broom, pretend it was a microphone and sing to make her laugh.
